Several people were injured and four attackers were killed Tuesday after a shootout in Moscow regional court. When the elevator reached the third floor, Russian National Guard officers were already there.Every one of the five suspects were cuffed as they were being taken to a court, Russia’s Investigative Committee said.Earlier, the shootout at the court was confirmed to RT by Natalia Osipova, the head of the court’s press service, but she did not provide any details.A legal counselor who was at the building when the episode happened said that no less than 20 shots were heard. The two other suspects and three security officers were wounded.The lawyer, Diana Tatosova, told Reuters by telephone that she was told by the chief investigator in the case that of the 11 defendants in the court, four had been killed. She said that three of the defendants were shot as they tried to escape, and two others were wounded.The members of the GTA Gang, which took its name after a computer game, are charged with the murders of auto drivers in the Moscow and neighboring Kaluga regions in 2012 and 2014, Russian media reports.The incident took place before a hearing for a gang of nine who are suspected of killing more than a dozen motorists, authorities said. According to Prosecutors, the gangs put spikes on roads to drive out motorists from their vehicles and shoot them dead.They had also attempted to take hostages.A lawyer at the courthouse told Russian news agencies he saw a guard and a court official with injuries.The gathering of Central Asian nationals was associated with murdering 17 drivers in the Moscow range in the vicinity of 2012 and 2014.
