Reliance Jio beats rival Airtel in TRAI 4G speed test, Idea speed improves while Vodafone slowest

New Delhi, April 21: Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has once again emerged as the leader in the telecom sector in average 4G download speeds. The indication of an upward graph is beleieved to be a major success for the company as it faced a drop down to the fourth position for 4G download speeds in January. As per data collected by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s MySpeed app, Jio is the leading telecom company in the sector in 4G download speeds while Idea has earned major gains in both 4G upload and download speeds. Though Jio’s network being the fastest in download speeds, it lags behind its rivals Airtel, Vodafone and Idea when it comes to uploading speeds. The other incumbent operators such as Vodafone, Airtel have seen a drastic dip in their download and upload speeds decreased since January. The regulatory body, TRAI’s new MySpeed app helps anyone to check your Internet speeds and send the results to TRAI. The MySpeed app is available for all Android users. It checks Internet speeds both on Wi-Fi and cellular data. As per TRAI’s MySpeed app, here’s the average upload speed According to the TRAI MySpeed data, Jio network registered average download speed 15.04 Mbps while that of Idea, Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance is 11.93 Mbps, 10.69 Mbps, 8.1 Mbps and 3.1 Mbps respectively.  The average upload speed according to the data reveals that Idea is first with 6.64 Mbps followed by Vodafone, Airtel, Jio and Reliance. Vodafone recorded 5.42 Mbps uploading speed, while Airtel, Jio and Reliance recorded 4.49 Mbps, 3.3 Mbps and 1.6 Mbps respectively. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel’s average 4G download speed came down from 11.862Mbps to 11.254Mbps, while Vodafone’s decreased from 10.301Mbps to 8.337Mbps, the report claimed.
