More people are trying to eat healthier to increase their longevity and reduce the risk of obtaining certain diseases. In order to do this it is very important for people to adopt a healthier lifestyle that includes changing the types of foods that are consumed on a daily basis for the rest of their lives. Consuming whole foods offers the body so much more than eating foods that are highly processed. Highly processed foods rarely offer anything of nutritional importance to the body. Even the once healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables that are processed in cans are depleted of their nutritional value because of the large amounts of high fructose corn syrup and sodium that are added. Eating foods as they occur naturally in nature is much better for the body on so many levels. Whole foods have not been stripped of their natural nutritional value through any form of processing so all the benefits that are provided by fruits, vegetables, whole grains and the limited number of naturally occurring healthy oils and fats are fully absorbed by the body. In order to effectively prevent many diseases it is very important to get at least the required number of servings of fruit, vegetables and whole grains as shown by the food pyramid each day. Obtaining these servings via whole foods is the best option in order to improve the quality of one’s health.
